2006 has been a year for building, designing and re-building here in Bakersfield. The WRE garage has been busy with fabrication efforts on the Monte Carlo this year, which is to become the new #83 Consult Supply Support Chevy for the 2007 race season. The Iceman plans to compete at the Irwindale Speedway during 2007 while he anxiously awaits the new Kern County home for NASCAR scheduled to open in 2008. The car will feature many design innovations that will give us an edge on the track, and a beautiful new paint scheme that promises to stand out and grab your attention both on and off the track. Visit our photo gallery below for pictures and details of the project. Randy "Iceman" Walker will be challenging all street stock division entries in a great comeback compaign next spring. Other drivers around the city, including JR Garcia #24, our former crew chief, are building new cars in anticipation of the 2008 season and a more intense and competitive field.

Mesa Marin Raceway gave way to developers in the Fall of 2005 and we all wished her a sad and fond farewell. While this put a cramp on everyone's racing efforts for 2006 we are excited about a new state of the art raceway that will open here in 2008. To view plans and progress on the project please visit www.kerncountynascar.com. the new raceway will have many race-team friendly features, as well as new and improved spectator hospitality features.

Many thanks to Andrew Shilstone of Consult Supply Support for his updates and hosting our fabulous website. Without Andrew's continued intersest and support, this website would not be possible!

And special thanks to all crew members past and present of WRE who have put their blood, seat and tears into the development and planning for the new #83 Monte Carlo. It is about to have its maiden race!

Walker Racing Gains International Exposure

“The Iceman” Randy Walker, driver of the #83 CSS car was a guest on “The Stock Car Session” on January 3, 2007.  The show is a live weekly webcast that features Grass Roots Racing from around the country; hosting live “call-in” talk shows with appearances by drivers, owners, promoters and other members of the racing community from all levels of NASCAR competition.  The hosts, NASCAR promoters Jeff Thielscher and Vance Palm, have already gained an international group of viewers, and their show airs weekly on Wednesdays at 5:30PM PST at www.KTRacingNASCAR.com hosted by www.realfast.tv.
Randy’s interview was GREAT!  He was entertaining and informative, showing not only his passion for racing, but also his loyalty and dedication to sponsors and fans alike.
Check out the interview by going to www.realfast.tv and clicking on the link for www.KTRacingNASCAR.com. The live interview will be featured for one week, then archived on the site for future viewing.

Make-A-Wish Appearance

WRE’s annual participation in the Bakersfield Chapter Make-A-Wish Christmas Party on December 16, 2006 was another success!  This was our 4th annual appearance at the event, and it continues to be an honor to share in the support and encouragement of these special children.  Randy’s good friend and 4-year Make-A-Wish recipient Lauren Ashley was present, accompanied by her mother and her little friend “Fiesta” the Chihuahua. We are thrilled to announce that Lauren is currently on the mend, looking better and healthier than ever, and looking forward to the future.

All the children were met by The Iceman and the WRE team, and in addition to the traditional photo and autograph session were treated to the special gift of a Walker Racing t-shirt featuring  the  #83 CSS Monte Carlo.  While the weather did not allow for all the children to sit in the race car and take pictures outdoors, the car was on display as they arrived for the party until the rain began.  Bernice Morgan and other members of the Bakersfield Eagles Lodge hosted yet another wonderful holiday party for these local children, who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. The party included lunch, entertainment, local celebrities, and a visit and gift from the big man himself (Santa Claus) to finish off the event.

The Iceman has made a public invitation to all racers to become much more involved in local charities, such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Check out our Schedule, and come back often for updates on when and where "The Iceman" and his #83 Chevy will be appearing next! Additionally, if you are interested in having the team appear at your special event, please contact us at WalkerRacingEnt@aol.com or phone (661) 663-3399

Night at the Game

Lauren Ashley, one of our Make-A-Wish friends, and her parents were the guests of The Iceman and Donya Walker (Team Owner) at a Bakersfield JAM basketball game on January 4th.  This was a fun evening for all of us, and Lauren’s first time to attend a professional basketball game.  Though the JAM did not win that night, they played a great game and the evening was entertaining.  It was great to see Lauren Ashley and Randy together that evening and have some time to get better acquainted with each other. It seems that she is not actually much of a NASCAR fan, but is very much a fan of The Iceman! Lauren and her family are enjoying a break in her treatment cycle that allows them some free time to play and connect with friends before she resumes her home school studies and normal routine.  It has been a long 4 years for this family, but they are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel and help their daughter plan for a future. We are honored to be a small part of this special little girl’s life, and plan to continue our friendship with her and her family for years to come.
